Delhi and Bengaluru are both cities with a rich history and a thriving present. If Delhi represents a city known for its history stretching back centuries, Bengaluru represents the idea of a younger, modern India. Both cities are home to numerous galleries, museums, and cultural institutions hosting a variety of cultural programs. However, there is a lack of platforms that showcase avant-garde, critical, and experimental art.

Traditional festivals often prioritize established artists and mainstream genres, leaving emerging and boundary-pushing artists with limited opportunities for exposure and recognition. The W.I.P alt FEST, conceived as a one-of-a-kind twin festival spanning two cities, aims to be a landmark annual event of experimental, alternative, and critical art. The Bangalore edition is being supported by the Unboxing Bangalore Foundation and will be part of their Bangalore Hubba Festival taking place in December 2024. Much like the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it seeks to propel the art landscape of both cities into the future, cementing India’s legacy as a hub for artistic innovation.
